Fantastic article, Joumana, liked it a lot. I really enjoyed the insights shared in the article. It's fascinating how these artistic details contribute to the overall beauty and complexity of the script.
I'm also inspired to delve deeper into this topic and share my findings on Thuluth script, focusing on the intricate balance between form and function in calligraphy. It's amazing to see how the decorative elements evolved over time. Definitely recommend your publication.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure there are things to find in Thuluth (though it's not my area at all) as nothing is ever as homogeneous as is claimed.
Thank you, Joumana! Your article truly sparked my interest. It's fascinating how each script has its unique intricacies and evolution. Thuluth, with its graceful curves and elaborate design, offers a rich field for exploration. I'll be diving into its history and decorative elements, and I'm excited to share my findings soon. Looking forward to continuing this enlightening conversation!
This post very much did intrigue me! I'm glad to see you're getting more subscribers. I always learn something new when I read your posts.
On a Substack note, I've thought about reducing the paywall too. It ends up being more of a hindrance than anything. I only keep it now because I've gotten prolific, so I have to be merciful to people's inboxes. :-)
Yes you're remarkably prolific!! I wish I could write half as much. I don't know if you're aware that you can divide your publication in sections so people subscribe to the ones they want to receive. Then you don't have to worry about overwhelming people. I'm not sure how to do it to an already set up publication, but you should be able to see how it looks in my collectors' newsletter https://majnounacollectors.substack.com/ – the section bar at the top shows the different types of post people can tick when they join.

Belated thanks, and thanks for cross-posting it!

No problem! Haha I already have a few categories, but maybe I need more already? :-)
